Welcome
One of the most common health issues in adults, and one that is also frequently under-diagnosed, is growth hormone deficiency (GHD). GHD is commonly recognized as a condition in a small percentage of children, resulting in stunted growth. But GHD may also be present in many adults over the age of 35.
Growth hormone is produced from the time of birth in the brain's pituitary gland, and is responsible for the continuation of many vital body functions. However, the rate of growth hormone production begins to steadily decline after age 30. Loss of growth hormone can result in acceleration of the aging process, resulting in fatigue, loss of skin and muscle tone, memory and concentration problems, weight gain, bone and joint problems, and compromised health of other organs, such as the heart, kidneys, adrenal glands and liver. The good news is that many of the signs and symptoms of aging are reversible with proper, supervised hormone replacement.
At our center, we evaluate our patients for deficiencies of various hormone in the blood, including thyroid hormone, estrogen and testosterone, cortisol and insulin, as well as growth hormone. Many of the effects of premature aging are reversible simply with the right quantity of replacement growth hormone, but we also take into consideration the role of other important hormones which may be deficient.
Do not be misled by the many clinics that offer similar-sounding drugs, but which are in fact selling simulated compounds or pro-drugs. The problem with pills, sprays and sublingual compounds is that they simply don't work as well as the real drugs. The issue is a concept known as bioavailability. Many of these synthetic substances are degraded by the body's immune system the moment they enter the respiratory tract or the gastrointestinal tract. This greatly reduces the impact these metabolized compounds have on the body. If they are offering a "miracle" formula that doesn't require a prescription, dispensed by someone who is not a licensed physician, and there is absolutely no follow-up or supervision, be very suspicious that you may not actually be receiving a real drug with real bioavailability. You will simply be throwing your money away.
We invite you to make an appointment at our center, where you will receive an individualized evaluation of your hormone status. Once we have evaluated you with a detailed panel of blood tests, we will be able to advise you as to whether or nor hormone replacement is a viable option for you. The compounds that we recommend to our patients are pharmaceutical products requiring prescriptions. They are real medications which produce real results. Once you have been recommended as a candidate for treatment, we will continue to monitor your progress, and will advise you every step of the way as to whether adjustments in your medication are necessary. Let the professionals at our office help you decide if hormone replacement is what you may need to look and feel young again.
